  • Heat pump/cooling systems that use refrigerant other than R-22 or similar, R-410a, have non-compliant components, exceed 5 tons capacity, or are ductless, ammonia cooling or window units

If you do not buy a plan for every system you own, you must designate at enrollment the system(s) your plan covers, or the plan will cover the first system for which you make a service call. You are not eligible if your property is used for commercial purposes; you know of any current problems with your system(s) before enrollment; your system(s) is shared with a 3rd party or covered by a homeowners’ association or the like; or is not installed according to manufacturer specifications. In IA, properties with more than 4 dwelling units are not eligible. Heat Pump/Cooling System: Eligibility: Heat pump/cooling systems that use refrigerant other than R-22 or similar, R-410a, have non-compliant components, exceed 5 tons capacity, or are ductless, ammonia cooling or window units are not eligible for this portion of coverage. Benefit Details: Coverage provides, up to the applicable benefit limit, to repair system(s) for which you have sole responsibility, that are damaged due to normal wear and tear, not accident or negligence Coverage provides for repair or replacement of parts only. Your system(s) will not be replaced. There is a $50 fee per service call. Heat Pump/Cooling System: The broken or failed electric central heat pump/cooling system in your home. Heating System: The broken or failed natural gas, propane, electric central forced-air or oil heating system in your home.
Not covered: Damage from accidents, negligence or otherwise caused by you, others or unusual circumstances. Heat Pump/Cooling System: Air ducts; air cleaners; air filters; ductwork; registers; asbestos coverings; condenser pads; snow legs; refrigerant conversions; and routine maintenance. Making a Service Call: Your plan starts the day your enrollment is processed. There is an initial 30-day waiting period before you can make a service call, providing 11 months of coverage during the first year. Upon renewal/reactivation (if applicable), there is no waiting period.
Cancellation: Cancel any time by calling HomeServe. If you cancel within 30 days of your start date, you will get a full refund (less claims paid, where applicable). Cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a pro-rata refund (less claims paid, where applicable).
Renewal: The plan is annual. Unless you cancel, your plan automatically renews annually at the then-current renewal price and is billed monthly through your utility bill.
