  • Not covered (all systems): Damage from accidents, negligence or otherwise caused by you, others, wildlife or unusual circumstances. See product-specific information below for any additional eligibility requirements, coverage and exclusion details. Costs on covered repairs may exceed the benefit limit, in which case you pay the difference between the cost and the benefit limit.
  • Exterior Electric: Damage or failure due to disconnection or interruption to the main electrical supply, transformers, generators, non-utility supplied power and/or lines; appliances and meter pedestals, pool heaters, light fixtures or fittings, lines to secondary buildings or any structure other than your home or detached garages. The meter that measures the amount of electricity used is not covered by this plan, but it is maintained by FPL.
  • Interior Electric: Damage or failure due to disconnection or interruption to the main electrical supply, appliances, service entrance conductors, knob and tube wiring, aluminum, or non-standard/non-permanent materials.
  • Telephone/Low-Voltage and Exterior Low-Voltage: Specialty or non-standard jacks, lines or systems, security system wiring, or wiring for any temporary or removable structures. Costs on covered repairs may exceed the benefit limit, in which case you pay the difference between the cost and the benefit limit.

Benefit Details: Coverage provides, up to the applicable benefit limit, to repair or replace system(s), for which you have sole responsibility, that are damaged due to normal wear and tear, not accident or negligence. Exterior Electric: The broken, failed or hazardous permanent high voltage overhead or underground wiring, including to detached garages and fixtures, and the weatherhead, insulator, riser, meter base, and service entrance conductor located between your utility's responsibility and the exterior wall of your home. Frayed high voltage wiring that is still functional is also covered. Interior Electric: The broken, failed, or hazardous high-voltage wiring from and including the breaker panel or fuse box, up to and including switches and outlets, and disconnect boxes and all wiring, breakers and switches contained within them. Telephone/Low-Voltage: The broken, failed or hazardous low-voltage telephone wiring from the network interface(s), up to and including the jacks, and the broken or failed low-voltage thermostat, garage door opener or doorbell wiring from the switch connection to the thermostat, opener motor or chime bell connection. Exterior Low-Voltage: The broken, failed, or hazardous low-voltage wiring outside your home but on your property that is used for lighting, electronic gates, and any landscaping wiring that runs up to the point of connection with low-voltage fixtures.
Making a Service Call: Your plan starts the day your enrollment is processed. There is an initial 30-day waiting period before you can make a service call, giving you 11 months of coverage during the first year. Upon renewal/reactivation (if applicable), there is no waiting period.
Cancellation: Cancel any time by calling HomeServe. If you cancel within 30 days of your start date, you will get a full refund (less claims paid, where applicable). Cancellations after the first 30 days will result in a refund of 90% of the unearned pro rata price (less claims paid, where applicable).
Renewal: The plan is annual. Unless you cancel, your plan automatically renews annually at the then-current renewal price and is billed monthly through your utility bill, described as Electric Line Protection Plans.
